Established in 2002, the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame was created to honor local theatre artists and patrons of the arts. It is designed to acknowledge people whose life-long participation, innovation and creativity have influenced the Dayton arts culture. The Hall of Fame recognizes their contributions to the arts by perpetuating their legacies. The Hall of Fame traveling plaque will be on display at various theatres throughout the 2008-2009 season. The Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame is operated and governed by the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame Executive Committee, consisting of three members, one each from community, professional and educational theatres in the Dayton area. Dayton residents Dodie Lockwood and Jim Lockwood were inducted into the Dayton Theatre Hall of Fame as a result of their dedication to theatre arts in Dayton.
Dodie Lockwood has been an active member of the Dayton Theatre Community for over forty years. She has served as a board member of both the Dayton Community Theatre and Dayton Children’s Theatre. In 1991 she and John Riley founded FutureFest, an event which she continues to support through fundraising, acting and directing. She is also an active choreographer, having served in that capacity for student productions at Colonel White, Chaminade and Julienne High Schools.
Jim Lockwood has served as an actor, director, and musician for many local theatre organizations, spanning many decades. He has worked as an actor and director for more than fifteen different theatres, including Sinclair Community College, Town Hall Players, Dayton Playhouse, Playhouse South, Dayton Theatre Guild and the Brookville Community Theatre. Jim is also known as a major theatre supporter, attending over 50 theatre productions in any given year.
