DayTony Scoring

Each show is adjudicated by five peers from our theatre community.  These include representatives from other member theatres, as well as at-large adjudicators who aren’t associated with any specific theatre. 

 Adjudicators submit scores for each category ranging from 1-10.    Our Statistician then compiles scores in two ways:

1. A flat average is made of each score.

2. Scores are also averaged using the truncian method, which cuts off outliers more than two places outside of the range of scores. 
   

Our Ratings Committee evaluates both score averages, working to ensure fairness and eliminate possible biases that outlier rankings may indicate.  The Ratings Committee identifies the top percentage ranges of each category for Merit and Excellence awards.
